Executive Director of Functional Engineering

Job Description

Apply engineering, management, and leadership experience to build competitive excellence and exceptional people in the functional areas of Engineering.The functional engineering groups support customer projects across business lines of motorsports, defense, mobility, and innovation. Roles and responsibilities encompass every level of talent acquisition and development, engineering process development, and system-technology development through the entire engineering life-cycle.

People - Develop exceptional retention, recruiting, and development plans for engineering managers. Guide, mentor, and develop exceptional engineering Teams. Accountable for: retention, employee satisfaction, recruiting targets, training and professional development plans, resource planning and forecasting, productivity

Process - Develop and deploy best-in-world engineering best practices and standards across all projects and transfer knowledge back to core engineering groups. Develop process strategy and roadmaps to ensure sustainable competitive advantage.Accountable for: standard operating procedures, best practices, knowledge capture and re-use, efficiency

Technology - Work with CTO to develop best-in-world technical and system engineering strategies and roadmaps. Enable our people with the best technologies and systems to solve the most complex engineering problems at the highest level. Support technology roadmap execution and annual technology priority planning. Accountable for: deployment of standard technology and systems to teams, technology utilization

Customer (Internal and External) - Support the allocation of resources to customer teams that maximize customer and project team satisfaction. Accountable for: customer satisfaction, project team satisfaction

Financial - Responsible for providing Engineering operating budget, capital plan, and forecasts. Support Managers in developing department operating budgets and capital plans. Accountable for: capacity utilization, billable utilization, capital efficiency, and company EBITDA

Business Development - Support business development, marketing, customer relationships, trade shows and proposal development

Strategy Development - Work with organization to identify best-in-world engineering trends and develop new areas of competency as directed by market needs, strategic plan, and people-process-technology roadmaps. Accountable for: annual engineering strategic plan-objectives-initiative development

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

This position may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
