·Enthusiastic and motivated person that will over-deliver to the customer while guiding and motivating a team in a time compressed environment, coupled with complex and unique engineering challenges.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The steady growth experienced at Pratt & Miller has resulted in a new opportunity for a Chief Engineer focused on defense, tactical light vehicles and vehicle integration programs. The Pratt & Miller Chief Engineer role is the highest level of technical leadership for Engineering Services projects. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of project execution to ensure that the customer is satisfied, the employees are satisfied, and the projects are profitable. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for developing core competency and capability that delivers exceptional value to our customers and creates a competitive advantage for our company. This includes leading the team for projects that include full vehicle design, chassis design, technology integration, simulation, objective testing, and subjective evaluation.
Responsibilities:
·Coordinate planning, organization, control, integration and completion of projects. Plan and formulate engineering program; review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Coordinate activities on technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test issues
·Lead the exploration of the design space, set the technical objectives and requirements, establish the decision-making process using trade studies, resolve any conflicts, and guide the team
·Lead communication internally, as the voice of the customer, and externally to keep project on schedule and team informed
·Coordinate personnel through resource forecasting process, coordination with department managers, and recruiting
·Identify risks to customer satisfaction, project deliverables and develop action plans to mitigate
·Support Program Managers to plan project financials, track costs, and ensure project profitability
·Train and mentor engineers to support projects, build our core teams and support our people
·Assist Business Development team in market research and analysis of market needs and competitors while supporting identification of customer leads, customer meetings, evaluate potential opportunities, use of Pratt & Miller core technologies
·Execute market strategy and capability expansion by recruiting technical staff, identifying capital resource needs, and managing technical deliverables
·Develop design, simulation, and testing best practices for Pratt & Miller including application of the appropriate tool sets and development of targets by vehicle type and market segment. Lead the deployment and integration of best practices throughout the organization
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
·A systems integration approach to vehicle development including knowledge in a variety of automotive and defense sub-systems will be required to effectively Design, Develop, Build, Race and Win.
·Experience in structural analysis, multibody simulation engineering, vehicle dynamics and control system development.
·This position requires exceptional communication of technical and programmatic data. Oral and writing skills for reports and specifications using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
·Ability to handle ambiguity and open design environments with competing requirements
·A strong personal desire to always be the best and work with the best
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
·BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar engineering education
·15+ years of applicable industry experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
·Some travel may be required depending on the program
